Update CLIQ® Web Manager

CLIQ® Web Manager upgraded to version 6

Server 2 Friday 26 August 13.00 - 17.00 GMT+2
Server 3 Monday, August 22 11.00 - 19.00 GMT+2

The maintenance is scheduled between the hours. 11:00 to 19:00 GMT+2 and the expected downtime of the systems is estimated to be approximately 1 hour. During that time it is not possible to log into the CLIQ Web Manager and perform administrative work, or to update the keys updating devices (Remote PD's). It is always possible to validate keys.

CLIQ® Connect

CLIQ® Web Manager 6 introduces a new plug-in that replaces Java on the administrator's PC. The program is called CLIQ® Connect and can be downloaded here: link
CLIQ® Connect is developed by ASSA ABLOY to phase out Java and enhance usability when the user is logging in and is scanning keys. The program is installed on each administrator's PC, no configuration is needed.

The program is updated with new versions through an auto-update function.

For offline use the latest version is always available in our download center.

Java
Java can still be used for those who wish it. ASSA CLIQ recommend using Connect.

The recommended Java version 8u91.

Note
  • Remote PD's have to be updated with new firmware for CWM 6.
  • CLIQ Connect have to be shut down if Java is used.
  • Read latest news about SHA1 replacement on: http://export.assa.se/

Microsoft and Mozilla owns Internet Explorer and Firefox that are the only Internet browsers supported by CLIQ® Web Manager. This means that any major changes they do to the these browsers will affect all C-key users of CWM. For security reasons SHA1 signed certificates are currently being phased out and replaced by SHA2/SHA256 signed certificates. Migrating to SHA2 signed certificates affects many sites and applications worldwide. Therefore Microsoft and Mozilla allowed a transition period of a couple of years for this to happen before blocking the use of such certificates in their products by default.

New features in CLIQ® Web Manager 6:

3.1      Support for CLIQ® Connect PC

The CLIQ Connect PC can now be used for local PD - CWM communication. All local programming of C-keys and user keys are supported, by this it is no longer needed to install Java on the client PC unless lock chart is used.

When using CLIQ Connect PC, the local PD can also be used for remote programming of keys in a remote system with a Firmware version of at least 12.3, all updates except firmware upgrade is possible.

3.2      Key holder change notification

Email notification can now be sent out to domain administrator when key holders are updated. Notifications are sent to the administrators (C-key holders) who manage domains of cylinders to which changed key holder have access.

The purpose of change notifications is that domain administrators that are responsible for cylinder accesses within the domain(s) needs to get control of the changes done on key holders with cylinder accesses within the domain(s), and if required remove cylinder accesses for key holders that should no longer have access.

This feature can be turned-on and off from system settings, notifications can be configured to be trigged on individual key holder fields.

3.3      Remote PD Plug and Play

The remote PD can now do automatic enrolment and Directory Service lookups. The automatic enrolment is done for new PDs delivered from factory and will use the
enrolment URL in the Directory Service to connect to the enrolment application and get a certificate.

If the remote server is moved or the remote server goes down, then the PD will connect to the Directory Service and use the remote server URLs from there and try those.

Note, to establish the plug and play it is required that the remote PD can establish a connection to the Directory service without proxy.

3.7      Remote PD status information

The remote PD is extended with features and properties to define its operational status and inventory status.

Remote PD search panel is extended with more search options including these new statuses.

Remote PD details view is updated to include the new status information.

Furthermore, the web service Query Service-interface is modified to be conformant with these new features and properties.

3.8      Cylinder time zone support

It is now possible to set relative time zone for a cylinder, this option is only possible for generation 2 cylinders. The time zone can either be a minus or plus offset to the MKS time zone. For more information, see the CWM User Manual for details and restrictions regarding this new feature.

3.9      Proxy support for remote PDs

The remote PD can now be configured to use proxy (with/without authentication) when connecting to remote server. New configuration applies to mobile and wall PDs and can be set using bulk operation.

3.12     Framework upgrades and support for new versions

3.12.1    Support for SQL Server 2014

The compatibility with SQL Server 2014 has been verified and confirmed, the verification comprises different upgrades and backup/restore scenarios.

3.12.2    Upgrade to latest Tomcat version

Tomcat has been upgraded to version 7.0.64 to benefit from the latest patches and security enhancements available.

3.12.3    Upgrade to latest Apache version

Apache has been upgraded to version 2.4.17 to benefit from the latest patches and security enhancements available.

3.13     Data lifecycle management for key jobs

Completed user key programming jobs are now deleted after three months, this will in some cases dramatically reduce the database size and the remote user key programming performance will be improved.

3.14     Improved database queries performance

A number of critical CWM database queries have been improved. A set of tools and method has been developed and defined that will be used for further SQL query performance improvements for coming releases.

3.15     Improve Audit trail archive

Some potential risks for deadlocks in audit trail lifecycle management have been removed.

Due to these improvements the order of deleting old audit trails cannot be fully guaranteed.

3.16     TLS upgrades

3.16.1    Apache TLS v1.2

Communication to/from/within the CLIQ Remote system now uses TLS 1.2 protocol

3.16.2    Added support for host name check by remote PD

CWM has been prepared to support Remote PDs and other remote clients to verify the correctness of CLIQ Remote host name.

IP addresses are no longer supported, only DNS names can be used by the service URL in system settings.

3.16.3    SHA-2 support and trigger certificate renewal for Remote PDs and C-keys

Microsoft and Mozilla owns Internet Explorer and Firefox that are the only Internet browsers supported by CLIQ Web Manager.

For DCS integrated systems automatic certificate renewal jobs will be created for all Remote PDs in CWM installation, all Remote PD certificates will be automatically replaced for SHA-2 version without the need of user interference, (for systems without DCS integration Remote PD certificates will have to be renewed manually).
Installer will replace the SHA-1 certificates with the new SHA-2 certificates. Users who still use SHA-1 C-Key certificate will be informed about the security
vulnerability and recommended to renew the certificate.

A warning message has been added if a Remote PD still is using a SHA-1 certificate; this message contains a date when the certificate automatically will be renewed for SHA-2 version.

For SHA-2 certificates the SHA-256 hash variant is used.

3.17     Key events for temporary access groups

Key events when associated/disassociated with a temporary access group have been added to key detail view - event tab.

3.18     Improved handling of failed remote C-key jobs

It is now possible to handle failed remote C-key jobs automatically and assign it again to
C-key if it is allowed by C-key.

3.19     New tab in Cylinder group view of keys that have access

The cylinder group view is extended with a tab of the keys that can access the cylinder group.

3.20     Update of key/cylinder names by import

Key and cylinder names can now be updated by extension import if the name is null or empty in CWM.

3.21     New fields in Todo-list

Cylinder location and second name is added to Cylinder Programming Todo-tab, C-key view cylinder programming-tab and C-key job notification emails.

3.22     Option to limit key report to only show electronic cylinders

Key report printout in key view and handout is extended with an option to define if mechanical cylinders should be included in report.

3.23     New login images

New login images have been updated for most of the brands.

3.24     Unwanted error message removed.

An error message when key firmware version is higher than expected is not displayed anymore, this error message is now only displayed if key firmware version is lower than expected.

4         Fixed issues

4.1      Misleading description of key validity

The text in key validity tab has been improved for keys with revalidation enabled, e.g.
the text "The key is active…” is changed to "The key can be revalidated…”.

4.2      System error when using advance search and access profile in key list view

When searching for access profile in key list view and sorted the result on either: key cutting, group, domain or key holder an unsupported query was sent to MS SQL Server. This search and sort combination is now prevented and the user is notified about this limitation.

4.3      Error while expanding C-key group in lock chart

While expanding master C-key group and normal C-key group in lock chart an error occurred in the popup, the problem was related to the fact that C-key does not have concrete domain associated.

5         Important Notes

5.2      Supported Remote PD firmware

From CWM version 6.0 only remote PD firmware version 6.2 and above is supported, it is therefore important that upgrade remote PDs prior to upgrade the CWM installation to version 6.0.

For more information about this upcoming release, please contact your ASSA representative.

Best regards,
ASSA AB

Update of the login certificate to SHA2

All logon certificate CLIQ Web Manager, which is used with the setup keys have was encrypted with SHA2. ASSA recommend all clients to update before July 30, 2016.

For safety reasons SHA1 signed certificates are currently being phased out and replaced by SHA2 certificates. The migration to SHA-2 affects many sites and applications worldwide. Therefore, Microsoft and Mozilla has set a deadline of a few years of transition for this to happen before the blocking of such certificates are introduced in their products as standard.

The browser will not allow login with a SHA1 certificate in the future.

Information on the update process can be found in ASSA Smart Guides: Link
